AOL to Offer Free Phone Line
AOL will soon be launching a new service to compete with Vonage, Skype and other online phone services. The new service called AOL Phoneline will be integrated in the popular AIM instant messenger program. One of the key features will be FREE local VoIP calls. AOL aim to make their VoIP service to be main line of communication replacing standard telephones which is reflected in the name, AOL Phonline.

An upgraded version, AIM Phoneline Unlimited, will cost $14.95 a month for calls to all local and long-distance numbers and 30 foreign countries. Calls must be made with a headset plugged into a computer and logged onto AIM through a broadband connection. AOL plans to launch the service in the top 50 U.S markets in late May
